Subodh Public School, Airport organized Inter – School Event – “Leap Spring Bound – 2020” for classes I – V on Saturday, February 01, 2020. Total 196 students from 11 renowned schools of Jaipur participated in the Event.
A leap year is a year in which an extra day is added to the Gregorian calendar, which is used by most of the world. While an ordinary year has 365 days, a leap year has 366 days. The extra day, February 29, is added to the month of February.
Earth actually takes 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds to go completely around the sun. (This is called a solar year.) In order to keep the calendar cycle synchronized with the seasons, one extra day is added every four years as February 29.
Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November.
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting February alone,
And that has twenty-eight days clear
And twenty-nine in each leap year.

Guest Jurist of the event were Ms. Madhuri Wadhwa, a Renowned Choreographer and Mr. Mahendra Pratap Singh, a Story Teller and Blogger.

In Cultural Activities Folk Dance and Story Telling were conducted. Everyone loves to listen to stories. There is hardly anyone among us who has not heard a story during our childhood. Stories define us, shape us, control us, and make us. Not every human culture in the world is literate, but every single culture tells stories. Stories create magic and a sense of wonder at the world. It teaches us about life, about ourselves and about others. Storytelling is a unique way for kids to develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for other cultures, and can promote a positive attitude to people from different lands and religions. Students narrated stories with beautiful expressions and proper intonation.
Folk Dances were presented after that. A land of colors and traditions, India is a country in which each state adds a new color to its canvas. Diversity is in India’s roots, be it in the food, clothing, festivals, languages, and landscapes. Every state and its regions have different dance styles and folk music, with which they express the nature of their community. Every part of India has its unique folk dance, which isn’t as complex as the classical form of dance but, in its simplicity, it reflects the deep-sited beliefs of their people. We explore some of the best folk dances that make India’s cultural heritage much more beautiful. Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi Giddha – Bhangra and a fusion of folk dances were presented in colourful costumes with proper coordination.
